I had to marvel, when we stayed at an inn in the English countryside, that many of the furnishings were older than America herself. Even the dining chairs, which arguably got the most use, were in admirable shape–ah, a bit weathered and worn, nicked and scratched, but I can honestly say those marks and dings made me love them more.
We created our own version, the Cornwall Side Chair, in homage. Its made of mahogany with a ladderback construction, turned legs, supporting stretchers, and a rush seat handwoven to the frame.
